Number 3 Millcroft Cottage sits in the heart of Glenridding village, a five minute walk from the southern shores of Ullswater, and five minutes from one of the many footpaths which lead up to the mighty Helvellyn range. Glenridding is a thriving village, with restaurants, hotels, pubs, shops, a doctors surgery and petrol station. There is also a very good tourist information centre which can be handy for ideas to fill a wet day. Glenridding sailing centre and Ullswater Steamers are within walking distance if you fancy taking to the water.
Less than a mile down the road is the delightful village of Patterdale, which also has a pub, hotel and village shop/post office and also St Patrick’s Church, not forgetting Patterdale Mountain Rescue base should you need there services! Continuing south along the A592 over the famous Kirkstone Pass into Windermere and Ambleside, for a spot of retail therapy or a coffee there is plenty of great places to choose from.
If you head north from Glenridding the road follows Ullswater and the views on a clear day across the lake are breathtaking. Keswick is a 40 minutes drive, and Penrith just 30 minutes away.
